This is the first trick I learned in Photoshop, using the marquee tool and create a feather look touch to your picture. You can follow these simple steps to learn the feather trick.
1. First select a picture, mine I chose a people picture and a building picture.
2. Then make sure that each picture is on a different layer.
3. Select the layer with the people picture.
4. Choose the marquee tool, specifically the elliptical one.
5. Select the place where you want to fade the people picture. In my case I selected the lower left part.
6. Then press Ctrl + Alt + D, or you can go to Select > Modify > Feather. The bigger the value the bigger the space you can fade or produce a feather effect. I chose 25 so as to not create a very large feather effect.
7. Press Delete key accordingly to your liking.
8. If you followed the steps above, you will a similar output like this. And a couple of feather effects here and there, you can do something like this too.
